Light-O-Matic creates/helps Events
Light-O-Matic creates our own events, usually psy-trance events. We also
create events in partnership with other people. Sometimes we just help with
lighting, art, sound or DJing.

Ben <light-o-matic> is a psy-trance and chill-out DJ. Also will be heard
playing the occasional 80's New Wave set and mixed up 60's and 70's music...
Light-O-Matic does Lighting
Light-O-Matic is a project of lighting designer
Ben <light-o-matic>, bringing over
20 years of theatrical lighting experience to the design of
lighting effects for psy-trance events, raves, and other types
of party environments. We are also glad to work on
arts events, unusual musical performances, dance
events and other interesting lighting opportunities.
We specialize in a style of intelligent lighting that uses mainly beam
effects over the crowd and smooth organic motion of the lights. We can also
do in-your-face full-on rave lighting if that's what you like...
If you are doing an event in a club that already has lighting, we can come
in and run their lighting so that it matches your event better. We will
bring our own lighting console in to run their lights, if necessary.
We use fully professional moving lights and other equipment such as
High End Systems, Martin Professional, Avolites, ReelFX and
others. We also have a number of blacklight fixtures and smaller DJ
type fixtures to fill in where needed.
Light-O-Matic does Sound
Light-O-Matic has a substantial sound system which we use for our own
events. We also bring parts of the system out when we are helping with
other events. The system is not "for rent" in the traditional
sense.. this is not a sound rental company.. but if you need a sound system
contact us. If your event is something we would support, then we can work
something out. We can also help with the sound system you already have or
help you rent the right equipment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I just rent equipment from you?
Sorry, no. The equipment is never handed over to someone else to set up or
run. If the equipment goes out to your event then I have to be there too.
Can you handle large events?
We have done events of over 1000 people with our own equipment. It depends
on the event. If you are doing something bigger than our equipment can
handle then we will add to our system with rentals. The system is designed
so that if it is expanded, everything will work together.
How much do you charge? It depends. If
your event is a medium to high-priced, high-profile (high-profit) event, we
charge market rates. If your party is underground, cheap or free, or
somehow overlaps with our own interests, then you will get a much better
deal, maybe even free, depending upon circumstances... Tell us about
your event and we'll give you a better answer.
